Position Overview
United Way of the Flint Hills is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Pathways to a Healthy Kansas
Coordinator for our Healthier Lyon County program. Pathways to a Healthy Kansas Coordinator role is
focused on improving health outcomes and promoting health equity by addressing the social
determinants of health in Lyon County.
The Coordinator will collaborate with community partners, coalition, governmental agencies, and
organizations to develop and implement strategies that foster healthier environments. Areas of focus
include increasing physical activity, promoting healthy eating, and reducing the use of commercial
tobacco products, all with a holistic, community-wide approach.
Key Responsibilities
Program Coordination
• Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Pathways to a Healthy Kansas
initiatives.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with community partners, organizations, and coalitions to
support program goals.
• Promote health equity by identifying opportunities to address disparities and improve
outcomes for all community members.
Community Engagement
• Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to encourage collaboration and raise
awareness of Pathways initiatives.
• Act as a liaison between United Way of the Flint Hills, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, and
local stakeholders.
• Provide technical assistance and support to partners in implementing health-focused strategies.
Data Collection and Reporting
• Track progress and outcomes of initiatives using established tools and metrics.
• Prepare regular reports for internal and external stakeholders, including grant funders.
• Analyze and use data to identify trends, assess impact, and guide decision-making.
Communication and Advocacy
• Develop and distribute communications to highlight Pathways initiatives and achievements.
• Advocate for policies and practices that address the social determinants of health and improve
health equity in the community.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in public health, community health, social work, or a related field (or
equivalent experience).
• Experience in community engagement, project management, or health-focused initiatives
preferred.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, including facilitation and public speaking.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in data tracking and reporting tools.
• Passion for improving community health and addressing health inequities.

The Pathways initiative, funded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, promotes health equity and
addresses the social determinants of health in communities across Kansas. With a focus on increasing
physical activity, healthy eating, and reducing commercial tobacco use, Pathways empowers
communities to create sustainable, healthy environments that benefit everyone.
Since its inception in 2016, the program has invested over $23 million in Kansas communities, providing
technical assistance and resources to improve health outcomes and foster lasting change.
